Dakar stage 10: Coma's revenge
Marc Coma's chances of winning may be Nil, but that clearly does not stop him from increasing the number of stage wins to 3 and thus making it known to his opponents that he is still the man to beat.
During the last stage in Chile, the Catalan was placed on the highest stage with Frétigné and Rodrigues next to him. Despres may not be on the podium, but the Frenchman still has a comfortable lead in the standings. Coma had a lonely day, but he won't let that get to him anytime soon. Frétigné left from 13de position, but with his second place he took revenge for the 10 minute penalty he was given yesterday for not respecting the flags at the finish. De Rodrigues set the best time and finished third, just 2'36 behind winner Coma. This means that the Portuguese moves up to place in the standings, barely 52" behind Lopez and 2'10 behind Ullevalseter.
Despres is taking it cautiously and is now trying not to compromise his large lead of 1h22'. Frans Verhoeven falls just short of the top 10, but with his eleventh place he is the first of the low-ranking players, just ahead of Knuiman, who is ranked 14th.de reached the finish line. De Groot and Vruggink were 43 respectivelyth in 49. th. Snijders (55th) just had to give Liefhebber the lead. The Belgian Palante turned 70th and thus left Krabbenborg and Ressing behind.
