Sheffield trial as opener of the World Indoor Championships
At the request of the FIM, Sheffield Trials will organize the first round of the Indoor World Championships on Saturday, January 9. For example, Sheffield must keep the number of tests at seven, after the loss of Nice.
In practice, this does not mean an immense change. As is known, Sheffield has been one of the most high-quality indoor competitions in the world for years. Good news for the spectators who see three additional top performers at work. This immediately gives Sheffield the strongest field ever with: Toni Bou, Adam Raga, Takahisa Fujinami, James Dabill, Michael Brown, Alexz Wigg, Dougie Lampkin, Albert Cabestany, Jeroni Fajardo and Loris Gubian. Neil Crosswaite of organizer Avondale Management is rightly proud: “A qualification will decide who can go to the final.”
Unfortunately, the battle for the 'King of Sheffield' will not be broadcast live on TV this year, but will be shown on Eurosport at a later date. Watching live is of course always more fun. You can fly cheaply from Amsterdam to East Midlands Airport with Bmibaby. Click here for more information about Sheffield Trials and tickets.
In the side program you can see street trials biker Danny MacAskill at work in person. Definitely worth it! New this year in the indoor World Championships is the competition format in which 8 regular riders are allowed to start, instead of 6. Below you will find the full calendar. The locations in brackets have not yet been confirmed.
