Revolution in BK motocross!
We have some national championships in Europe that are at a very high level. The ONK MX2 is one of them, but in the MX1 the Belgian motocross championship is a class of its own. Despite this top status, the BMB and the organizers do not rest on their laurels. There are a lot of changes planned for next season.
New BK promoter
To start with, the Belgian association has found a new promoter for the championship. It is a communications agency that is active in advertising as well as events and sports. The BMB has thus found a partner who will help the organizing clubs to further develop the BC. In the meantime, we are still working hard behind the scenes to - as they say - make the 'package' as attractive as possible. What is certain is a total new competition formula for the MX1/open class:
- 15 minutes of free training in the morning
- qualifying race of 12 minutes + 1 lap, the top 30 are placed directly. The organization may appoint 5 wildcards.
- 2 sets of 30 minutes + 1 round
New name: MX Pro Series
In the communication and design surrounding the BK, a lot of attention will be paid to a nice appearance for a large audience. That is why the championship must become even more attractive for families and sports fans who do not (yet) go to the cross country every week. As part of this exercise, the name of the championship will also change. After a whole series Trophies (from Johnson, L&M, Lotto and finally the United Telecom Trophy), the Belgian championship will from now on be known as the “MX Pro Series.” At least it sounds cool! Side entertainment and/or performances should provide extra ambiance... It is expected that the new promoter will explain the full picture during a press conference in a few weeks.
No separate Inters MX2 class
The Belgian Motorcyclists Association previously announced that the title of Belgian champion Inter B will be canceled in 2010. The separate prize pool for non-elite riders will also disappear. However, the prize money that was previously provided for the third series of the Inters open will be used to distribute a final premium among the first 10 in the championship. In itself a great idea to encourage riders to commit to the entire championship. Although it is of course a tough task for non-GP riders to get into the top 10... Let's start with a series of factory riders at the start!
During the BK inters competitions, the Inters MX2 will ride together with the Nationals MX2. As was previously the case in 2006. The complete overview of Regulation changes can be found here.
