Ashley Fiolek back to work in Europe!
After a brilliant 2009, LS Motors-Honda previously announced that it wants to continue growing in the MX1 World Championship next year with Tanel Leok and Davide Guarneri. The Belgian team proudly announced today that it will also compete in the FIM WMX Championship (Women's Motocross World Championship) next season with the American Ashley Fiolek. The 19-year-old Fiolek is one of the fastest girls in the world and she proved that this season thanks to titles in the X-Games and the American Championship. With LS Motors-Honda she rode to two podium places in as many GPs (Bulgaria and Portugal). Ashley was born deaf, but that did not stop her from becoming a top athlete and becoming an inspiration to many. In the US, Fiolek gained national fame through the attention of major TV stations, magazines, websites and newspapers.
Team manager and owner Steven Lettani: “We are very happy to have Ashley back in her third consecutive season with LS Motors-Honda. Ashley isn't just very fast on a dirt bike. She has a lot of energy and an infectious personality. In short, she is the perfect ambassador for our sport and our team! Moreover, we also have an emotional bond with Fiolek and her family. We are still a young team, but Ashley was the very first LS Motor-Honda rider to stand on a GP podium, in 2008.”
For the time being, six of the seven World Cup matches are on her programme. This way she can optimally prepare for her American obligations. Still, we keep open the possibility that Ashley will ride the full World Championship if she qualifies for the final podium in the championship. We will be working closely with Ashley and her father to give her the very best equipment. Just like she is used to with the Honda-Red Bull team she drives for in the US.
With Ashley, our team is now complete for 2010. Without exaggerating, this is a real 'Dream Team'! Each and every one of our new riders are professionals who know what it feels like to win. Tanel (Leok), Davide (Guarneri) and Ashley all have a good attitude as well.
I have to admit that everyone was longing for a holiday after a long and tough season. Now our batteries are fully charged and we are incredibly motivated to make 2010 our most successful season yet!”
Ashley Fiolek: “I'm really looking forward to going back to Europe next season for the FIM Motocross World Championship. Seeing the LS Motors-Honda again is also a nice prospect. It's my third season so I'm already well versed in it. Steven and Linda (Lettani) ensure that everything is arranged and that I feel comfortable away from home. I can't thank the team enough for their efforts, but I think the results they achieved in the MX1, MX2 and WMX World Championships speak for themselves! (big laugh) Get ready because I'll be back in April!”
