AMA Transfermarkt: It's all about Dungey!
The Lucas Oil AMA MotocrossChampionship may be on hold for a while, but preparations for next season are already being made behind the scenes. Just like in Europe, the transfer market is also in full swing in the States.
The most coveted rider in the AMA Supercross/Motocross is still Ryan Dungey. The 2010 double champion is at the end of his contract with American Suzuki. Although a contract extension remains possible, it is also possible Red Bull KTM (with Dungey's former confidant Roger DeCoster) and American Honda angling for the services of the man from Minnesota. Also ex-San Manuel Yamaha-team manager Larry Brooks seemed interested in Dungey's services. Brooks would work with Jeremy McGrath want to set up a new team. The names of Mike Alessi en Josh Grant seem more realistic to us for this start up team.
After all, Josh Grant's departure from American Honda seems almost certain. Alessi would then have to make way for Dungey if he signs with KTM. Dungey apparently holds the key to the AMA transfer market because James Stewart's sporting future would also depend on his decisions.
It cannot be ruled out that Suzuki will land a big fish with Stewart, which would dramatically reshuffle the cards in the AMA. To be continued, no doubt...
