Dakar Rally: Ricky Brabec wins stage 7
After the welcome rest day, 78 riders still appeared at the start in Ha'il. It was Ricky Brabec who won the special over 453 km. Chilean José Ignacio Cornejo took over the lead in the rankings from Toby Price.
The motorcycle Dakar becomes more exciting every day. The first six in the standings are all classified within 10 minutes. Kevin Benavides was one of the big losers of the stage. The number two in the rankings made a mistake in the final phase of the test. He lost more than ten minutes. Walter Roelants remains consistent in his first Dakar Rally, finishing 59thth. Paul Spierings finished the stage in 36thth, his compatriot Olaf Harmsen came in at 74th.
Tomorrow stage number 8 is on the menu with a ride from Sakaka to Neom. There is 375 km to be covered with even more sand and stones and for dessert the majestic landscapes of Saudi Arabia.
