Max Anstie back to Bike It Kawasaki DRT?
During the Turkish GP the Bike it Kawasaki Dixon Racing Team was able to celebrate his very first world title with Courtney Duncan. The New Zealander enters the WMX final with a lead of 26 points. For next year, the British team could compete in three different classes.
Manager and owner Steve Dixon is yet to announce his 2020 line-up. However, everything looks like Australian MX2 champion Wilson Todd will compete in MX2 for Bike it Kawasaki Dixon Racing Team. In any case, it is certain that Darian Sanayei (photo below), the team's current MX2 rider, will be too old to compete in that category next year.
Dixon's formation has a solid reputation in 125cc and MX2, but did compete in the MXGP for two years with Tommy Searle and one year with Rui Gonçalves. It could well be that we Bike it Kawasaki DRT will also compete in the MXGP in 2020. The combination of potentially interesting riders and the priorities of Kawasaki Motor Europe explain the renewed interest. The contract with Duncan was previously extended by two years.
“We have already signed two drivers and we are looking around at what is still possible. There are many options and I am open to what presents itself,” states Dixon. “Now that the factory riders all have a place or are almost done, there are still many strong riders available. It is now a matter of waiting to see how and where we can have the most impact and whether that is in MXGP or MX2. We have experience with both categories. Kawasaki also now has a really good foundation with both the KX250F and the 450, which means less work. We also have a good relationship with WP Suspension, so they already have information about adjustments for every rider who comes from a European brand. ”
If American Sanayei wants to stay in Europe and take on the challenge in the MXGP class, he could opt for a fourth year in the British Kawasaki team. But there are still privateers on the coast such as Adam Sterry and ex-Dixon team rider Max Anstie. “Our focus is on achieving results, which are then converted into sponsorship. Ultimately, Kawasaki Motor Europe plays a very important role within our team so we follow their direction,” added Dixon. “Max Anstie could be an interesting option for everyone because performance in the British Championship would then become an asset.”
