Prümmer/Schneider took the holeshot in the first heat, with Leferink and Prunier close behind. Those three stayed together for the entire series, but Prümmer felt real pressure on his neck only briefly. In doing so, he claimed the start-to-end victory in front of an ecstatic German crowd.
Behind them, Leferink and Prunier put on a great battle: they often rode side by side and fought tooth and nail. Ultimately, the French duo finished second, with the Leferink brothers in third. Vanluchene, who started from around sixth place, worked his way up to fourth, despite the Belgian World Championship leader briefly losing his composure. In fifth place we saw Auvray/Steegmans, who rode very strongly, with Veldman/Lebreton in sixth.
In heat two, Vanluchene took the holeshot. He wasted no time, pulled away, and won the heat convincingly. Combined with fourth place in the first heat, this secured him second place in the final standings. The day's victory went to Prümmer/Schneider. They started in second place, held onto that position, and thus claimed the GP win on home soil. The Leferink brothers finished third again and also finished the German GP in third place overall. The French duo Prunier had a poor start, managed to recover to fourth place, but saw heat winner Vanluchene extend his lead in the World Championship standings. Foden/Weinmann were in fifth, and Wilkinson/Millard in sixth.
