DThe first MX2 race at Foxhill was a piece of cake for the in-form Guillem Farres. He took the holeshot and never looked back. Reigning world champion Simon Längenfelder finished second ahead of Liam Everts.
Guillem Farres shot off the starting grid like an arrow, with Liam Everts and Simon Längenfelder as his closest pursuers. Sacha Coenen, who finished fourth in qualifying yesterday, only got away in twelfth place. Everts had to let the reigning world champion pass at the end of the first lap and then had Janis Reisulis on his rear wheel. Sacha Coenen did what he had to do and had already moved up four places by the start of the second lap.
After ten minutes of racing, Farres managed to maintain a four-second lead over Längenfelder. Meanwhile, Sacha Coenen had moved up to P7, attempting to further limit the damage following the broken collarbone he sustained last weekend in Southwick. The crash on lap 7 certainly didn't help, as he had to continue from 14.e place.
Camden McLellan had overtaken Janis Reisulis halfway through the race and now held P4. At that moment, Kay Karssemakers retired from the race with a bike that suddenly refused to go any further. Farres won this first heat with a comfortable lead over Simon Längenfelder and Liam Everts. Ferruccio Zanchi suffered a terrible crash on a descent and had to retire with a heavily damaged Ducati. He thus threw away a potential sixth place. Sacha Coenen managed to limit the damage with a tenth place but had to watch as Farres took the lead in the standings with a two-point advantage.
The second MX2 race will be held at Foxhill later today at 17:10 PM.
