Has anyone ever heard of Merthyr Tydfil? No, surely not. It is, after all, a town of 60.000 inhabitants in Wales. Perhaps the name Aberfan rings a bell. That is a hamlet of Merthyr, where a slag heap caused a landslide in 1966, killing 144 people when their homes were buried..
As an aside, Monster Mountain is located in the desolate surroundings, where the fifth round of the British Motul Championship was held this weekend.
There wasn't much of a show in the MX1. The entire first race was dominated by Jeffrey Herlings, ahead of Conrad Mewse and Ben Watson. Oriol Oliver finished fourth, ahead of Tristan Purdon, whom he passed halfway through the race.
In the final race, the changes at the front were, if possible, even more monotonous. Herlings, Mewse, Watson, and Taylor Hammal saw only Oliver move up a few places to fifth.
Charlie Heyman was clearly the best in MX2 with a double race win. Behind him, Charlie Richmond was the most consistent with two third places. That secured him the silver, ahead of Tommy Searle, Jamie Keith, and Gyan Doensen.
