SCha Coenen (KTM) won both races in the MX2 class in Latvia. On the podium, he was flanked by Camden McLellan and Mathis Valin. Coenen extended his lead in the standings by 37 points because the German Simon Längenfelder had to retire after a crash.

First series

Once again, Sacha Coenen shot out of the starting blocks like a comet. The surprising Jens Walvoort was second, ahead of Simon Längenfelder. Liam Everts had started seventh but quickly dropped to P13. In lap five, Ferruccio Zanchi crashed spectacularly and went over the front of his Ducati.

Walvoort had lost a few places after his perfect start and was riding in 7th place after six laps.de peg. Meanwhile, Sacha Coenen had already built up a lead of 11 seconds over Längenfelder.

Halfway through the race, Triumph rider Camden McLellan overtook Simon Längenfelder to claim P2. Everts had already moved up to eighth place by then. A little later, Sacha Coenen swerved on the grid, but fortunately, it ended well. McLellan, celebrating his birthday, threw away his second place during the final stages following a crash.

A little later, Mathis Valin rode past a resigned Längenfelder without any opposition and took P2 for himself. During the final lap, the German was overtaken by the two Triumph riders and had to settle for P5. Sacha Coenen won this first race convincingly ahead of Valin, McLellan, and Farres.

Second series

And once again it was Sacha Coenen who was the first to cross the white line of the holeshot award, with Valerio Lata and Karlis Reisulis right on his wheel. Reisulis immediately overtook Lata to take P2. Simon Längenfelder had a bad start and had to make up positions from twelfth place.

Lucas Coenen gained a one-second lead per lap over home driver Karlis Reisulis. After 7 laps, Liam Everts was in P8, just ahead of Längenfelder. The latter jeopardized a good final result with a crash on lap eight. He went off the track, plunged into a sand pile, and catapulted himself over the handlebars. This resulted in a regrettable retirement and another loss of points to World Championship leader Coenen.

Sacha Coenen rode unopposed to a new series and overall victory. Camden McLellan and Karlis Reisulis finished behind him. On the podium, Coenen was flanked by Camden McLellan and Mathis Valin. In the World Championship standings, Coenen now has a 37-point lead over Simon Längenfelder. Liam Everts loses a place to Camden McLellan and is now in fifth place in the rankings.

The next MXGP will be held in Montevarchi, Italy, in two weeks.
