CDamen McLellan won the MX2 qualifying race of the Liqui Moly MXGP of Germany on Saturday. On the rolling Teutschenthal circuit, the Triumph rider inherited the lead following an early mistake by holeshot Sacha Coenen. Liam Everts qualified in third place.

Coenen shot to the front immediately at the start and clearly wanted to make a statement. The Belgian controlled the opening laps, but in his eagerness—as so often—he crashed again and dropped back to fifth place. By the time he was back on his bike, McLellan, Reisulis, Liam Everts, and Guillem Farres had already passed him. McLellan took over the lead and quietly built up a lead, while Reisulis worked his way into second place.

Everts made a strong start and held onto third place until the finish, ahead of Farres and the advancing Mathis Valin, who fought his way from eighth to fifth position. Coenen recovered to sixth place, although he had to relinquish that one position to Valin. Längenfelder finished no higher than eighth in his home race and will therefore have to make do with a less favorable starting choice on Sunday.

At the finish line, Camden “Mackey” McLellan held a 2,270-second lead over Janis Reisulis.

Among the Dutch, Kay Karssemakers finished twelfth, just ahead of the returning Jens Walvoort in thirteenth place.
