DCooper Webb's future is gradually taking shape. The Monster Energy Star Yamaha rider has announced in his own vlog that he is preparing for his final outdoor motocross season. With that, an important chapter in the American's career seems to be slowly drawing to a close.
In the video, Webb indicated that he has signed a two-year contract with a team that focuses exclusively on supercross. He kept the name of that team secret for the time being, but within the paddock, only one logical option seems to remain.
In theory, the Tedder team is the most likely candidate. That team, where Justin Hill is currently active, does not race an outdoor program and is also mentioned as a possible official Husqvarna partner in the 450cc class. That scenario gained momentum after Husqvarna's internally run factory team is now withdrawing.
For Husqvarna Motorcycles, such a structure could be financially attractive. By outsourcing the management of the factory team, the Austrians could save significantly on operational costs. The external management of factory teams was also already discussed in detail in the column “Give that factory team to me, to me!".
With his announced retirement from the outdoors, Webb seems to want to focus entirely on supercross, the discipline in which he has grown into one of the absolute top riders of the American championship in recent years.
