DThe final race of the 250 Supercross season in Salt Lake City had everything a motorsport fan could wish for: fierce duels, contact between rivals, crashes, and an impressive winner. Cole Davies made a statement at Rice-Eccles Stadium by claiming the victory after an intense battle with Haiden Deegan.
Tension hung in the air from the first round. Max Anstie claimed the holeshot and led the field ahead of Haiden Deegan and Cole Davies. However, that did not last long, as Deegan quickly applied pressure and took the lead in the rhythm section in the second round.
Davies initially lost valuable time behind Anstie, allowing Deegan to open up a two-second gap. But once Davies had a clear run, the pace started to pick up significantly. He made the difference especially in the whoops and slowly closed the gap again.
Midway through the race, the duel everyone was hoping for exploded. Davies and Deegan exchanged positions multiple times and did not shy away from any fight. In lap nine, Davies launched a hard but controlled attack on Deegan. The Yamaha rider stayed upright but lost ground while Davies took the lead. The incident felt like a clear reaction to their earlier clashes.
Deegan, however, was not easily shaken off and immediately set off in pursuit. The American chipped away seconds from the lead and tried to strike back on lap twelve. However, that backfired: Deegan crashed and immediately lost several places. A lap later, another crash followed in the sand section, causing his podium chances to vanish definitively.
At the front, Davies took full advantage of the chaos. The New Zealander extended his lead to seven seconds and then controlled the race until the finish. Levi Kitchen moved up to second place, while Max Anstie held his ground strongly for the final podium spot. For Deegan, the evening ended sourly with a fourth place, only the second time this season that he missed out on the podium. Ryder DiFrancesco completed the top five. Afterwards, however, there was primarily respect between the two rivals. Davies and Deegan greeted each other in good spirits after a race that will undoubtedly stay with the fans for a long time.
