ZAs expected, Jeffrey Herlings left no room for doubt during his guest appearance. The Dutchman controlled the race from start to finish and immediately set the tone in the opening heat.
From the start, the HRC rider took control, although he faced strong resistance from Maxime Desprey in the first half of the race. The Yamaha rider stayed impressively in the wake of the five-time world champion, but eventually had to drop back as the race progressed. Herlings picked up the pace and rode away unchallenged, while Desprey ultimately finished a distant second, taking important points in the title fight.
Behind them, Thibault Bénistant delivered the comeback of the day. After a poor start and passing in 21st place on the first lap, he worked his way impressively to the front. On the final lap, he overtook Bogdan Krajewski to secure third place. Brice Maylin rode another solid race and finished fifth, while Kevin Horgmo managed to limit the damage with an eighth-place finish despite a technical problem halfway through the heat.
In the second heat, Herlings repeated his feat. Once again, he immediately took the lead and set a blistering pace that no one could follow. Behind him, an intense battle for the podium places unfolded. Maylin held out for a long time under heavy pressure from Horgmo and Bénistant, but ultimately had to give way in the closing stages.
The two Honda SR Motoblouz teammates then turned it into a duel between themselves for second place, in which Horgmo ultimately gained the upper hand ahead of Bénistant. Maylin followed in fourth place, with Desprey in fifth.
With a flawless 1-1 score, Herlings logically crowned himself the overall winner of the day. Bénistant (3-3) secured second place in the day's standings, while Desprey (2-5) completed the podium. A display of strength by the Dutchman, who, as a guest rider, immediately made his mark on the course of the race.
