FFrancisco Garcia is not yet champion. Riola Sardo is only the third round in a series of 12. Last year, we also had to wait until the penultimate round to see Janis Reisulis become champion. The bronze medalist Garcia did, however, see the numbers one and two, Noël Zanocs, move up to the MX2 class.

Day two was still cloudy and chilly at the fish, but the start was for Mano Faure, Jekabs Kubulins, and Nicolai Skovbjerg. A few Be-Ne riders were keeping up well, with Douwe Van Mechelen in seventh and Gyan Doensen in eighth. De Baere and Ampoorter started somewhere around the top 20.

Faure's reign was short-lived. He was countered by Kubulins and Skovbjerg. Meanwhile, leader Francisco Garcia had also reached fourth position. Then Kubulins unexpectedly buried his head in the sand. Suddenly, all sorts of things were happening everywhere. Skovbjerg seized the lead. Aaron Katona and Gyan Doensen positioned themselves at second and third for Sebastian Leok and Faure.

Garcia dropped a few places. He fell back but would pick up the pace again with Tom Brunet and the Dutch duo Dani Heitink and Dean Gregoire. Meanwhile, Van Mechgelen had dropped out of the top ten. Emile De Baere, on the other hand, gained 11 places and was in thirteenth place in lap five.

Garcia eventually managed to ride past Brunet to sixth place. In doing so, the Frenchman touched the Spanish rear wheel and crashed. Would Garcia's maximum score be in jeopardy today? For ahead of him are still five men: Skovbjerg, Katona, Doensen, Faure, and Leok.

With four minutes to go, Skovbjerg seemed headed for his first EMX250 race win, having already finished second once last year. Behind the Dane, there was a fierce battle. Katona rode somewhat freely. Doensen had to call all hands on deck to hold off Faure. The Frenchman managed to stay on this time, unlike yesterday. As a result, he succeeded in displacing Doensen from third place and was immediately four seconds behind second-placed Katona.

And then? A repeat of yesterday! Faure dropped out. Doensen back in third, and Leok and Garcia moved up to fourth and fifth. And it remained exciting. Leok attacked successfully and snatched third place from Doensen. Katona, who was riding far ahead of Leok, ran into trouble and immediately had De Est on his rear wheel. He managed to hold onto his second place.

By then, it was clear that Garcia's first defeat was a fact. A consolation prize was perhaps the fact that he snatched fourth place from Doensen in the final sprint. Behind them were two compatriots of Gyan, as Heitink and Gregoire finished sixth and seventh.

De Baere finished fourteenth, his best result of the season. Van Mechgelen also fought his way out of the top 20 and finished eighteenth. Ampoorter finished 25th.

For Skovbjerg, not only the first heat but also the overall victory was secured. He beat Garcia and Katona. Given that Jake Cannon didn't hit anything in the final heat, Skovbjerg sprints through to second place in the standings, ahead of Cannon, Doensen, and Faure. Although I do see the latter taking revenge next week.

Finally, another update on Jarne Bervoets. Yesterday, during free practice, several riders crashed in front of Jarne. The flag was not waved immediately. Jarne was unable to avoid them and crashed. To make matters worse, another rider ended up on top of him. In qualifying, Jarne fell hard off his bike. It gave him a severe headache. Jarne did start in the first heat, but quickly abandoned the race. He did not start today.
