SCha Coenen was simply unstoppable in the MX2 qualifying race in Sardinia as well. The KTM factory rider led from start to finish and thus won his 4th qualifying race of the season.

Coenen dived to the inside of the first corners. It earned him yet another holeshot for the Reisulis brothers. Janis Reisulis was, incidentally, the fastest earlier in the day during qualifying.

Once at the front, Coenen was not caught off guard: he won convincingly and thus secured his fourth consecutive qualifying victory this season. In the MX2 World Championship standings, the young Belgian is now just 24 points behind Simon Längenfelder.

Behind him, there was a fierce battle for every position. Liam Everts initially appeared in second place, but saw Längenfelder, Janis Martins Reisulis, and his brother Karlis all pass him. However, the Belgian Husqvarna rider recovered and, despite an ankle injury, fought his way back to fourth place.

Längenfelder came on strong, passed both Reisulis brothers, and took second place. An incident helped determine the final result. Karlis Reisulis flew spectacularly off his Yamaha after contact with McLellan's rear wheel. The South African Triumph rider did finish the race and came in fifth. Brother Janis Reisulis completed the top three.

From the Dutch side, Kay Karssemakers was the best today. The Dixon Kawasaki rider rode to a respectable 7th place, his best qualifying race ever. Scott Smulders, Jens Walvoort, and Cas Valk—12th, 13th, and 14th—had to settle for a top-15 finish.
