HHere and there, they will probably still write somewhere that the opening of the DMOMX was a bullseye. You can say a lot about the Dutch, but I don't even dare make the comparison with Belgium anymore. Congratulations Oldebroek, big thanks to MC Heerde.
And then you get rewarded with a race like this in the 85cc: four riders end up with 40 points. Just try matching that. I am sure Kees DO won't feel like chatting much on the way home tonight after such a breathtaking start.
In the absence of an overall result at Speedhive, we did the calculations ourselves. We ended up with four drivers tied with 40 points. Based on the best result in the final race, we award the victory to Lucas Nierychlo. Also on the podium: Gregor Lootus and Kash Van Hamond. He was left empty-handed this time, but Rainers Grasis could just as easily have become the overall winner.
Haakon Ronning managed the holeshot, but he was passed by Grassis and Iver Emilsen in the first lap. Iver sprinted past Grassis in the fifth lap to take the lead. Almost simultaneously, Ronning in third place was passed by both Lootus and Van Hamond. And Haakon would lose ground even further. Subsequently, there was a status quo between the four leaders. Until Van Hamond – he knows this track inside out – saw an opportunity to snatch third place from Gregor. There was also applause for the fifth man. Harry Dale had started last and made the biggest leap forward. Moreover, he also set the fastest lap time. And to think he experienced a dip along the way.
For series winner Emilsen, the final race started dramatically, as he was completely boxed in at the back of the main peloton. Ronning gave a lesson in starting once again. He headed into the woods ahead of Cohen Jagielski and Xen Temmerman. Again, it took only a moment before Lootus and Van Hamond whizzed past these three in the first lap. Lucas Nierychlo, who started ninth and was only sixth in the first race, cut through the sand like a knife and joined Van Hamond in the third lap. To go right past him. Two laps later, Lootus was also cut short. And from then on, just about everyone lost count. Ultimately, it came down to Nierychlo becoming the series winner. But did he know that he also claimed the day's victory? Because Grassis was also well on his way to becoming the day's winner with his third place. Until he was caught by Van Hamond in the final lap. The rider he had successfully attacked a few laps earlier. The one who shared in the glory in the final heat was Grevenbroich winner Kenzo Jaspers. He, too, managed to race from last to fifth place. Harry Dale became the anti-hero; he dropped out.
