IThe first points-counting round of the VLM championship got underway in Lummen. It was an eventful day, with a heavy crash, a series of restarts, and ultimately a well-deserved double victory for Nolan Cordens in the Inters 500.

Brent Aerden immediately took the lead in the opening heat ahead of his brother Enzo, Jamie Haanen, Tyla Van De Poel, and Nolan Cordens. But things went wrong as early as the second lap: Aerden's front wheel got stuck in a muddy rut, and he was literally catapulted off his bike. He landed ten meters away next to the track and lay there dazed.

Series 1: Heavy crash Brent Aerden, victory Nolan Cordens

Enzo Aerden took over the lead. Halfway through the series, he was in the lead ahead of Cordens, Van De Poel, Kevin Schellens, and a strongly advancing Glenn Bielen, who had quickly ridden to the front from outside the top ten. When Van De Poel also crashed and was eliminated, Bielen moved further up to third and overtook Schellens.

Brent Aerden, who recorded the fastest lap times after his crash, fought his way back to sixth place. Yirre Saenen also took a hit after a fall, but was still able to appear at the start of race two after being treated by the rescue team. Two laps before the end, Cordens overtook Enzo Aerden to claim the race victory. In the 250cc class, Dietter Vromans was dominant ahead of Lars Huysmans and Boyd Van Endert. In the B-class, Joe Vanderreyt was the strongest, ahead of Jens Steensels and Tom Cuyvers.

Series 2: Bielen rolls over everyone, Cordens takes a double.

In the second heat, Brent Aerden, despite his fall earlier in the day, regained the lead ahead of his brother Enzo and Kevin Schellens. Cordens made an early mistake, after which Enzo took the lead with Cordens on his wheel. Brent was relegated to third place; Schellens and Haanen were also in a good position — but Glenn Bielen charged up again from the back.

Bielen rolled over the leaders one by one. Brent Aerden fought for all he was worth, but it was visibly strained after his heavy crash in the opening heat. When Schellens also crashed, the cards were definitively on the table. Cordens had secured the win early on, and Bielen sped past Enzo Aerden to take second place. Brent Aerden had to let his brother Enzo pass him and finished third. Overall victory for Cordens, who thus took the full haul.

In the 250cc, Lars Huysmans overtook Vromans in the closing stages, leaving both riders tied in the final standings — promising an exciting championship. Boyd Van Endert finished third. Among the B riders, Joe Vanderreyt was once again dominant and took the double race victory.
