HIt is April, so the battle for the first championship points is underway. Jeffrey Dewulf has already made a successful start to his campaign to finally claim the title that slipped away from him last year due to an injury…

After two 'warm-up rounds' in the Waasland, it was 'for real' in the MCLB on Easter Sunday. In Wippelgem, a sub-municipality of Evergem, the MCLB riders competed not only for the East Flanders titles but also, for the first time, for championship points. After a win in Sinaai and a second place in Stekene, Jeffrey Dewulf was the big favorite in the first championship round in Evergem, and the West Fleming fully lived up to that role.

The first heat as 'onemanshowTo label him ' would be disrespectful to the competition, but that is essentially what Jeffrey Dewulf made of it. The West Flemish rider led from start to finish and had a lead of just under half a minute over fellow countryman Mattis Meersschout at the finish. Not that there wasn't a fight behind Dewulf. Reigning MCLB Inters 500 champion Greg Demeulemeester started in second place in Dewulf's wake but was soon joined by Ryan Van Hove. The 2025 National champion confirmed his form once again by quickly dealing with Demeulemeester. However, Van Hove hadn't secured the win yet, as the eagerly advancing Mattis Meersschout passed him in the final stages. Arne Beeusaert finished in 6th place.e placed the first quarter-liter driver and stayed just ahead of Alessio Roelandt.

In the second heat, we saw a similar scenario to the first. Once again, Dewulf managed to take the holeshot and then systematically build his lead. Meersschout had less chasing to do this time, as he had started third behind Demeulemeester, whom he dealt with after just one lap. In the Inters 250 class, Alessio Roelandt rode a strong heat. The Brakel native – who combines motocross with cyclocross – would finish one of the 13e general position up to the 7e move up. With that, Roelandt stayed ahead of Arne Beeusaert, and the Opel Roelandt driver managed to claim his first stage victory in the Inters 250.

Double series winner Jeffrey Dewulf was the overall winner in the Inters 500. Mattis Meersschout and Greg Demeulemeester.

In Evergem, Alessio Roelandt not only claimed his first stage victory in the Inters 250, but also captured the provincial title. Talk about a strong debut!
