Mike van Grinsven won the Dutch National Quad Masters Championship in St. Isidorushoeve, ahead of Manfred Zienecker and Julian Veldman.
Due to a delay following an incident during the Dutch Sidecar Championship requiring prolonged medical assistance, the result of the first heat also became the result of the overall Dutch National Quad Masters Championship.
The second heat of the Quad Masters was to be shortened but was ultimately not run at all at the end of the day due to the low-hanging sun.
When the starting gate drops for the first heat, it is Nouwen who has the best reaction. However, it is Eijk who dives through the second corner first, although a crash there causes a minor traffic jam. Fortunately, everyone is able to continue and the damage remains limited.
After one lap, Veldman takes the lead. Zienecker follows behind, and Eijk impressively holds onto third place.
But it doesn't stay that way for long: in the second round, van Grinsven climbs from fifth to third place and shows that he is strong again today.
In that same lap, Zienecker takes the lead from Veldman. Van Lith and Maessen ride a good opening phase and settle into sixth and seventh place.
Round four brings spectacle once again: van Grinsven manages to overtake Veldman and moves up to second place, going on the hunt for leader Zienecker.
Halfway through the race, we see Vlaeymans in eighth place, just ahead of McLernon.
After about 14 minutes, van Grinsven spots a gap and takes the lead. At that moment, Veldman is driving a lonely race in P3, while behind him the battle for fourth and fifth places rages. Verboven is firmly in fourth, but Vlaeymans is not immediately satisfied with this and launches an attack in the closing stages. Verboven manages to keep him just behind him.
Dthe final result of the first heat:
- Van Grinsven
- Zienecker
- Veldman
- Above
- Vlaeymans
Due to an accident at the National Sidecar Championship, the second heat is delayed for a long time. The organizers eventually decide to proceed with the race, albeit shortened to 15 + 2.
Four riders take to the track for a reconnaissance lap to assess whether the low sun would pose a danger. However, after consultation — and despite the fact that not everyone agreed — it is ultimately decided to cancel the second heat entirely. As a result, the outcome of the first heat also determines the overall standings for the day in St. Isidorushoeve.
