DThe 250SX class once again didn't disappoint with three short but intense motos following the Triple Crown format. Every start was crucial, and any mistake could have immediate consequences.
One rider, however, held the reins firmly from start to finish: Cole Davies. With three convincing victories, he delivered an impressive performance and claimed his first Triple Crown victory. Behind him, Jo Shimoda and Seth Hammaker engaged in a thrilling battle for the remaining podium spots, while Pierce Brown, despite adversity, mounted a strong comeback.
First moto: Davies takes charge
The opening race got off to a strong start from Daxton Bennick, who took the first turn and immediately set the pace. Jo Shimoda and Cole Davies followed closely behind as the field gathered pace.
Bennick didn't stay in the lead for long, however. Davies clearly felt comfortable on the track and made the most of his speed in the whoop-tie-does. With an acceleration on this obstacle, he overtook Bennick and took the lead decisively.
Behind him, the pressure on Bennick increased. Both Shimoda and Seth Hammaker found a way past the Yamaha rider and settled into second and third place.
The evening got off to a particularly rough start for Pierce Brown. The championship leader crashed early in the race and had to restart from the back. Thanks to a strong charge through the field, he ultimately finished tenth. This could have been even better, as he tried to overtake Jalek Swoll in the final corner for a top-nine finish, but Swoll cleverly defended his position.
Second round: incidents and another victory for Davies
In the second race, it was Jalek Swoll who reacted with lightning speed as the gate dropped and took the lead. Davies, however, immediately stayed close, while Shimoda also lurked.
Swoll held on for a few laps, but ultimately had to concede defeat to Davies's speed. The New Zealander retook the lead and slowly began to build a gap.
The race wasn't without incident. Seth Hammaker had a rough start after crashing in the whoops and falling far back in the standings. Just like Brown earlier in the evening in Main 1, he had to mount a strong comeback in this second main.
Midway through the race, two separate crashes caused a stir. Both Gavin Towers and Evan Ferry crashed. Ferry was able to continue his race, but Towers needed more assistance and was eventually escorted off the track in a neck brace.
Meanwhile, Swoll also lost a few positions after a small mistake. In the closing stages, Coty Schock and Devin Simonson also capitalized on this and managed to overtake him. Davies, meanwhile, remained flawless and also took the win in the second moto.
Third round: tension until the last lap
The final race kicked off with another perfect start from Jalek Swoll, who for the second time tonight took first turn. This time, however, he had unexpected company. Devin Simonson surprised everyone by taking the lead on the opening lap with a spectacular scrub.
Swoll wasn't going to let that happen and quickly reclaimed the lead. Behind this duo, Davies, Shimoda, and Hammaker appeared, ready to pounce.
Davies didn't wait long to rejoin the front. He set a brisk pace, taking the lead and trying to build a small advantage. Meanwhile, Shimoda and Hammaker were engaged in a fierce battle for second and third place. Shimoda and Hammaker were giving each other an inch, and in the battle, they nearly collided. Shimoda then went a bit too aggressively through the whoop-tie-does and briefly lost control, allowing Hammaker to secure second place.
Meanwhile, Davies remained cool and flawless, riding unchallenged to his third victory of the evening. He may have slowed his pace a bit too drastically in the final laps, though, as Hammaker nearly fell on his neck. However, that didn't happen, and with a perfect 1-1-1 score, he secured the overall victory and recorded his first Triple Crown victory of his career. Shimoda finished second overall, while Hammaker completed the podium.
