HThe Red Bull Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing Team has announced via a video on Facebook that Kay de Wolf will not participate in the opening Grand Prix of the season in Argentina.
The Dutchman tore the ligaments in his thumb during the International de Sommières preparatory race, held on February 22nd. He underwent surgery for the injury the following Wednesday, after which he began an intensive rehabilitation process.
Unfortunately, it's impossible to perform at the highest level again just ten days after surgery. That's why Kay de Wolf and his team are choosing to play it safe and skip the season opener.
The Husqvarna rider is starting his rookie season in the MXGP class, and naturally, you want to start such an adventure as fit and healthy as possible. De Wolf expects to be back on the grid for the second Grand Prix of the season, which will be held on March 22nd in Almonte, Spain.
