SBad news for the Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team. Ferruccio Zanchi suffered an accident during a training session and will be sidelined for several weeks. The Italian rider has been forced to miss the opening round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Bariloche, Argentina.
The timing is particularly unfortunate. Zanchi had just made a strong impression by reaching the podium with the new Desmo250 MX at the first round of the Internazionali d'Italia in Alghero. After intensive winter preparation, he seemed poised to start the World Championship season strongly, but a training crash has now thrown a wrench in the works.
Ducati moves quickly and brings forward Simone Mancini as his replacement. This will be the young Italian's first appearance in the MX2 World Championship. He will also make his World Championship debut in the MX2 class in Argentina with the Desmo250 MX.
Mancini's schedule remains unchanged. After his world championship debut, he's scheduled to race the first round of the EMX250 championship in Almonte, Spain, on March 22nd.
So it will be interesting to see how Mancini holds his own at the highest level with the brand new Ducati Desmo250 MX!
