DSwede Isak Gifting will not be at the starting gate this weekend in Bariloche, Argentina. Gifting suffered a shoulder injury during the offseason that did not heal in time.
Gifting, a member of the JK Yamaha Team, will receive increased support from the Yamaha factory for 2026. On paper, it's the ideal combination – continuity within the team structure, combined with stronger technical and logistical support. However, the off-season hasn't been easy.
Shoulder injury
Gifting had been undergoing treatment for a shoulder injury over the winter, forcing the decision to skip the pre-season races of the Italian International Championship, giving him the best possible chance of being fully fit for the opening round of the MXGP World Championship in Argentina.
The plan was to be fully prepared for the Grand Prix season opener in Argentina. Unfortunately, that plan has now changed.
Although Gifting recently returned to the bike, persistent discomfort in his shoulder has forced a change of plans. At MXGP level, it's crucial to be 100% fit. After further evaluation, it has been decided that Gifting will not travel to Argentina this weekend.
The immediate priority is recovery. Gifting will now continue his rehabilitation with the goal of returning as soon as he is 100 percent fit. Isak Gifting hopes to be back in action for the second MXGP (in Spain).
