HThings aren't going well for Jason Anderson. The 2014 Supercross 250 West champion and 2018 450SX champion is currently in a particularly difficult situation.
Last weekend, Anderson missed the start of the legendary Daytona Supercross. The official reason: unspecified health issues. But even before the race ended, documents leaked on the well-known VitalMX forum shed a different light on the situation.
Among those documents was a typical American prisoner photo—a so-called "mug shot"—of Anderson. Neighbors of Jason Anderson and his wife, Mackenzie Anderson Meads, reportedly called the police after witnessing an argument between the couple that had escalated.
According to the leaked witness statement, the argument arose over alleged infidelity. The document states: "They argued about cheating and the numbers of other girls in his phone." The same statement also mentions that Mackenzie allegedly indicated there had been violence in the relationship before. This time, Anderson allegedly punched her in the side and grabbed her by the throat, allegedly after she took his laptop.

Mackenzie Anderson, who has been married to Anderson for four years, reportedly told her story to police but reportedly did not file an official complaint. The couple have a two-year-old daughter together and are reportedly trying to work on their relationship.
The consequences aren't limited to his private life, however. They're also impacting his sporting career. Anderson announced his indefinite retirement from competition.
Officially this sounds like this: “Pipes Motorsports Group announces that rider Jason Anderson will retire indefinitely from Supercross racing to address personal, family, and ongoing medical issues. This decision was made in consultation between Jason and his management team, in coordination with the team organization.
Pipes Motorsports Group respects Jason and his family's privacy and fully supports his decision. No further statements will be made at this time.

Jason Anderson also sent out a personal message stating: "I want to speak out bluntly about the recent situation. I take full responsibility for my actions and am truly sorry for the pain they have caused my wife and family.
We ask for your privacy at this time, as my focus must be entirely on my family. I'm withdrawing indefinitely to give them my full attention and to work on being the husband and father they deserve.
For now, there are no plans to layoff Pipes Motorsports Group. However, it remains to be seen how this situation will affect the 32-year-old American's career. What is certain is that any form of violence within a relationship is unacceptable. Violence against women deserves zero tolerance.
