WIt was a night for Eli Tomac. The American made history by winning for the eighth time at Daytona, but the celebration took an unexpected and painful turn during the podium ceremony.

After his impressive victory at the iconic Daytona Supercross, Tomac was presented with the traditional, heavy trophy. Just as he was about to triumphantly lift the imposing statue above his head, things went wrong.

The trophy's massive wooden base suddenly detached from the gold-colored statue as Tomac lifted it. The sudden shift in weight caused the sculpture to unexpectedly slam into Eli Tomac's upper incisors.

The blow was severe: a piece broke off one tooth. What should have been a moment of pure joy ended in a minor but painful tragedy. Fortunately, the damage was limited to a broken tooth and mainly an unpleasant incident. Still, it's a striking image: an eight-time winner suffering damage not from a crash or a duel on the track, but from his own victory trophy.
