ZA press release arrived at our office: This weekend's Hawkstone Park International will not take place. A lot of rain fell today, and the weather forecast for tomorrow is just as bad.
This is what the organization sent out into the wide world: “The circuit was in fantastic condition early this morning, and the paddocks held up well. However, after the latest downpour—and with more heavy rain forecast for tomorrow—it was decided that the risk of going ahead was simply too great. In the interest of safety and to prevent lasting damage to the grounds for future events this season, the event has been canceled."
Many top athletes were scheduled to compete at Hawkstone Park, including Romain Febvre, Jeffrey Herlings, and many others. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be this year.
