DThe first round of the Internazionali d'Italia Motocross EICMA has officially kicked off the 2026 season for Jago Geerts and the Beta MRT Racing Team.
The stunning setting of the Lazzaretto circuit, just above the popular Bombarde beach (Alghero, Sardinia), immediately proved a tough and demanding challenge, pushing both riders and machines to their limits. Due to Rick Elzinga's injury, the team had to rely on Jago Geerts as the sole Beta rider in the MX1 class.

With a seventh-fastest qualifying time, the Belgian started the first heat just outside the top ten. After a strong race, he finished eighth. The second heat was more difficult: Geerts crashed at the start and had to restart with the backmarkers. Nevertheless, he showed an excellent feeling with the bike and managed to work his way up to tenth place.
Thanks to his results, Geerts finished the day seventh in the overall standings, a position he also holds in the championship standings.

"I'm happy with how I rode today. In the first moto, I suffered from sore arms, but in the second moto I felt physically good. Unfortunately, I crashed at the start, but my pace was good and I was able to recover to tenth place. The start itself felt good, and I'm already looking forward to competing again next Sunday in Mantua," said Jago Geerts after his debut race with Beta.
