DAndy Pieters (N-VA), a 35-year-old from Maasmechelen, has been a newcomer to the Flemish Parliament since July 2, 2024. As a former spokesperson for Minister Zuhal Demir, he knows his way around politics, but he also has a passion for motocross. With a draft memo, he put the topic on the parliamentary agenda in early December. The editor-in-chief of MXVintage.be spoke with him at the Horensbergdam in Genk, where he explained the memo and his vision for the future of the sport.
On Tuesday, December 2nd, the Flemish Parliament reviewed a rescue plan intended to provide legal certainty to the four remaining motocross circuits in Flanders – Genk, Lommel, Lille, and Olmen. The Lille and Olmen circuits have lost their permits, while Horensbergdam in Genk had received a new permit, but an appeal has been filed.
We wanted to know from the representative what the next steps should be for our severely affected sport.
