NMax Anstie has once again claimed his 2023 FIM World Supercross title. Anstie dominated the entire championship and only needed a second-place finish in Race 1 in Cape Town to secure the title! Reigning world champion Shane McElrath won the South African GP (1-1-1).
After a holeshot of Enzo Lopes (Yamaha) took defending champion McElrath took command in the opener. The experienced Quad Lock Honda American held the lead and ultimately pulled away from the competition by more than four seconds. He won the Anxiety, Cullin Park, Enzo Lopes en Coty Schock. The second place in the first heat was enough for Max Anstie to prematurely SX2 World Champion 2026 to crown.
Although Lopes (Yamaha) also took the holeshot in race 2, but he had to give in again for Shane McElrath. Newly crowned SX2 world champion Anstie also defeated the Brazilian. The second race became a close call with the first. McElrath now won by just over a second over Anstie. Lopes now became third for Coty Schock en Kyle Peters.
In the finals we McElrath Not only did he take the holeshot, he also led from start to finish. At the finish, the nine-time AMA Supercross winner had a three-and-a-half-second lead over Anstie. Coty Schock now finished third and secured bronze in the day's overall standings and in the final championship standings.
GP winner Shane McElrath is runner-up at 39 behind Anstie.
