VAt the finale in South Africa, the difference between leader Jason Anderson (HEP Suzuki) and chasers Joey Savatgy and Christian Craig was just one point. However, Anderson confirmed his good form of recent months. Thanks to a perfect 1-1-1 score, Anderson won the GP and thus succeeds Eli Tomac as WSX world champion.
Although Savatgy, the fastest in the Superpole, who took the lead in race 1, he quickly had to admit his superiority in Jason Anderson. The man pushed through and lived with more than a second lead over Savatgy, while ColtNichols finished third at a considerable distance. Christian Craig had to settle for 5th place after Luke Clout.
In the second WSX moto, Anderson He immediately took the lead and would hold it until the finish. The American Suzuki rider won with a lead of over two seconds over his compatriot Savatgy (Honda) Stark factory rider Jorge Zaragoza secured a surprising P3 for Luke Clout. Despite Ken Roczen's controversial decision to retire from the FIM World Supercross Championship after just three GPs—even as championship leader—HEP Suzki still emerged victorious with Jason Anderson! HEP also won the WSX title in 2023, but with Roczen this time.
For Anderson, the overall victory at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town marked his second GP victory of the season. He finished five points ahead of Savatgy in the final standings. Christian Craig follows in third place with twelve points.
