The 41st ADAC Supercross Stuttgart kicked off with exciting races and strong performances from both international and German riders. At the Hans-Martin-Schleyer-Halle, spectators enjoyed a diverse opening night with intense battles and an impressive freestyle show.
The focus of the evening was on Mitchell Oldenburg. The American dominated the race from the start. The Texan made a clear statement in qualifying and proved that his Beta was perfectly suited to the Stuttgart course. Oldenburg then won every race of the day and secured the overall victory. In the SX1 Final, he took a well-deserved victory.
The 31-year-old confidently led the field for all 18 laps, staying faultless and maintaining a consistent pace to keep his rivals at bay.
"It was a perfect night for me, from start to finish. I'm already looking forward to tomorrow," said Oldenburg after his triumph. With this impressive performance, he demonstrated that the Beta definitely has the potential to gain a foothold in the Supercross scene as a winning bike.
Behind Oldenburg, Luke Clout (Australia) and Cedric Soubeyras (France) were in a neck-and-neck battle for second place. The Australian ultimately triumphed by a narrow margin, while two-time Stuttgart winner Soubeyras had to settle for third.
The German drivers impressed, with Maximilian Spies delivering a strong performance. The Brandenburg native was fourth at one point and finished seventh. "I'm really happy with my performance, considering I had very little training beforehand," said Spies. Paul Haberland and Nico Koch completed the German trio with ninth and tenth places. Local hero Mark Scheu from Grabenstetten narrowly missed the final but was still pleased with his performance.
In the SX2 class, Calvin Fonvieille impressively confirmed his favorite status. The Frenchman, reigning champion of the ADAC SX Cup 24/25, immediately took the lead and drove to an undisputed start-to-finish victory. "I always feel very welcome here; the fans are fantastic. Starting with a win is just amazing," said Fonvieille after the race.
His compatriot Jules Pietre completed the French one-two finish perfectly. However, Noah Ludwig provided the German crowd with the surprise of the evening: in his first indoor supercross since 2017, the Thuringian fought his way to third place. "I struggled in the washboard section and prayed every lap that I would get through. To be on the podium on the very first day is incredible," said Ludwig, delighted with his comeback.
Bad luck for Paul Bloy
Paul Bloy was less fortunate. The Biberach rider was involved in a crash in the very first corner, which forced a restart. He couldn't find his rhythm after that and ultimately had to settle for ninth place.
Fun Fact: Minor inconvenience during the awards ceremony
A funny incident occurred during the SX2 class awards ceremony: the organizers accidentally introduced third-place finisher Noah Ludwig to the left of the winner – traditionally, that's where the second-place finisher stands. This brought a smile to the riders and spectators. Everything was arranged correctly for the SX1 awards ceremony.
