VFormer MX2 world champion Andrea Adamo is taking the next step in his career. KTM announced today that the 22-year-old Italian will ride for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in the 2026 MXGP.

Adamo concluded his MX2 period with bronze  in the 2025 World Cup, thanks to 12 podium places en four victories. Adamo was in contention for the title until the penultimate GP. Since 2021 he rides MX2 and since 2023 he is a factory rider for KTM. That same year he won his first GP victory achieved and subsequently took the MX2 world title.

In total Adamo collected 30 podium placesHis season results in MX2 were: 1st (2023), 6de (2024) en 3de (2025). Adamo now has a multi-year contract signed with KTM.

Although he would still be allowed to ride in MX2 for one more season (up to 23 years), Adamo consciously chooses the switch to MXGP. Within a few weeks he will start with testing and training on the KTM 450 SX-F, together with his current team. The 2026 season starts with some preparatory races, followed by the first GP on February 22, 2026.

Andrea Adamo: “I am extremely excited to make the transition to the KTM 450SX-FIt's a new challenge, a new bike, and a different riding style, because you don't ride a 450 at all like you do a 250. It requires more strength and endurance. There will be a learning period, but I'm convinced I'll have a strong winter with the team and can put in a lot of hours to feel at home on the bike. After that, we'll see where we stand and build on it, GP by GP. I want to gain experience, learn from the top riders, and grow. Next year the level will be incredibly high—probably one of the strongest seasons in recent years. But I'm not afraid of that challenge; I want to embrace it. I feel good, motivated, and I'm happy to continue with Red Bull KTM Factory RacingIt was a dream come true to join this team three years ago, and I still feel that way. It's fantastic to be able to work with the best people in the business.

Robert Jonas, KTM Director Offroad Racing: We are very pleased to confirm that Andrew Adam our team in the MXGP class will strengthen. We are proud to continue our successful partnership after his impressive performances in MX2. Andrea is a smart, hardworking rider and knows what awaits him in 2026. We have great confidence in the team, our KTM SX-F-machines, and of course in our champion and GP winner Andrea Adamo.”
