Dutch Quadcross team becomes World Champion in Heerde!

QTeam Netherlands, consisting of Veldman, Van Grinsven, and Verboven, pulled off a huge upset by becoming World Champion in Heerde, the Netherlands. Team USA is normally dominant in the Quadcross of Nations, but thanks to the Dutch sand track and the support of a large orange crowd, Team Netherlands managed to beat Team USA and thus became World Champion!

In the first heat, the USA leads the field, ahead of Norway and Estonia. Ireland follows in fourth place, followed by France. Unfortunately, for the Netherlands, Verboven crashes in the early stages of the race and has to work his way up from last place. Halfway through the race, Veldman holds 6th place, chasing Colleatte (FR) in 5th place. With 6 minutes remaining, Tveraen (NO) takes the lead from Hetrick (USA), with his teammate Ford (USA) behind him. However, Hetrick quickly retakes the lead. With 2 minutes remaining, Hetrick makes a mistake and drops back to 6th place. Tveraen then leads, with Ford in hot pursuit. Not far behind them is Rillo (EST), in 3rd place ahead of Veldman. On the final lap, Rillo stops with mechanical problems, allowing Veldman to cross the finish line in 3rd place. Tveraen takes the win ahead of Ford. However, the race was flagged incorrectly; not the leader, but another competitor took the checkered flag. This resulted in the result being retaken from a lap ago, and Rillo was still classified third, ahead of Veldman, who was then fourth.

In heat 2, Wienen (USA) takes the lead, ahead of Saar (EST), Zienecker (DE) in 3rd place, and van Grinsven (NL) in 4th. On lap 2, Zienecker takes 2nd place and starts chasing Wienen. On lap 4, Zienecker takes the lead from Wienen, and Saar also overtakes the American. Van Grinsven is now also on Wienen's rear wheel and quickly passes him. The American is now in 4th and 5th place. On lap 6, van Grinsven takes 2nd place from Saar. After 10 laps, Vlaeymans (BE) has moved up to 6th place. In the final stages of the race, Vlaeymans overtakes Wienen and takes 5th place. Zienecker takes a strong victory ahead of Grinsven, Saar, Hetrick, and Vlaeymans.

In the third heat, Zienecker (DE) gets the best start. Saar (EST) is in hot pursuit, and van Grinsven (NL) is also close behind. On lap 4, van Grinsven overtakes Ford (USA), Saar, and Zienecker to take first place. Vlaeymans (BE) also overtakes Ford to take 4th place. Meanwhile, Veldman (NL) is battling Rillo (EST) for 7th place. With 7 minutes remaining, the top 4 are locked in a thrilling battle, with van Grinsven still in the lead.
Behind that, a gap of about 13 seconds to Ford(US) in 5th place, with his teammate Wienen behind him.
Saar manages to overtake Zienecker and takes over 2nd place.
Veldman has now entered the battle with Wienen for sixth place, a crucial battle because Veldman needs to overtake the American for the Netherlands to slightly improve its ranking and the USA to drop a spot. With two laps remaining, Veldman finally manages to overtake Wienen.
Van Grinsven takes the victory ahead of Saar, Zienecker, Vlaeymans, and Ford. Veldman came very close to finishing in 5th place, but his 6th place finish is ultimately enough to give Team Netherlands the World Championship title, with Team USA right behind them and Team Estonia in third place!
