IIn the 500cc class, Stefan Everts won ahead of the surprising home rider Andrew McFarlane. Swede Johnny Lindhe took a surprising podium finish ahead of Marnicq Bervoets and Joël Smets.
Eventual world champion Mickael Pichon won the 250cc class ahead of Claudio Federici and fellow countryman Yves Demaria. Chad Reed, in his first and only season in Europe, finished 6th on the factory Kawasaki. Britain's Jamie Dobb took victory that day in the 125cc class.
