DThe Italian motorcycle federation FMI announced yesterday the composition of its MX of Nations team in America. Team Italia will be heading to Ironman Raceway with Tony Cairoli, Andrea Adamo, and Andrea Bonacorsi.

For the 78th Motocross of Nations, which will take place from October 3rd to 5th in the USA at the Ironman circuit in Indiana, FMI technical commissioner Thomas Traversini has chosen fixed values:

  • Antonio Cairoli,  MXGP (Aruba. it Ducati
  • Andrew Adam, MX2 (Red Bull KTM)
  • Andrea Bonacorsi, Open (Fantic Factory Racing)

Cairoli, who has three individual 450 MXoN victories, a third-place finish in 2013, and the team victory in 2021, is riding his 16th Nations. As captain of Team Italy, he will compete against the world's best in the premier class, this time on his Desmo450 MX with number 22. Jeremy Seewer, also captain of the Swiss team, will make his first appearance in the United States with Ducati and will start with number 25 at Ironman.

Antonio Cairoli: "I'm thrilled to be competing again at the Motocross of Nations. It's doubly rewarding to wear the 'Maglia Azzurra' and ride an Italian bike like the Ducati, which I'll be competing in for my debut in the most important motocross race of the year. This year, I've competed in several races and have always been quite competitive; moreover, I feel very comfortable on the American tracks. Because the MXoN is being held on the Ironman circuit this year, the Italian Motorsport Federation contacted me, and of course, I immediately indicated my availability to contribute to the Italian cause. I'm enthusiastic and hope to be able to help my younger colleagues, if necessary mentally. We have a lot of experience, and the team's goal is a top-five finish. Objectively, that's within our reach, but the Nations, as we know, is a very special race—you never know.

Thomas Traversini, FMI technical commissioner: I expect a very balanced Motocross of Nations, in which we have every chance of being among the main contenders. Cairoli, who has always maintained his speed and physical shape, has been training hard on the bike recently and is ready for the challenge. Andrea Adamo and Andrea Bonacorsi are proving their worth in the world championship, where they are constantly battling for the top positions.
