AMC Orp Le Grand is one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in the country. Founded in 1946, it remains active today. During its long history, AMC Orp organized a 1975cc GP in 125, won by Gaston Rahier. For many years, the circuit on the banks of the Kleine Gete was the arena for a unique motocross concept: the Trophy of the Nine Provinces.
Until a few years ago, Orp was also the scene of increasingly scarce international competitions. World champions Joël Smets, Stefan Everts, and Steve Ramon came here to win. The international character was lost due to the ever-expanding Motocross World Championship. The top riders were often no longer available or took a break. AMC Orp changed its approach. In recent years, they have been hosting a purely nostalgic event for vintage motorcycles at the small "Citadel." And for good reason, because the highlight is the Trophy 875 EVO. Teams with 125, 250, and 500 cc motorcycles must achieve the lowest possible score.
The 2025 edition features a two-day event on August 30th and 31st. On Saturday, PCNA youth and amateurs can compete on the spectacular, yet safe, circuit. Sunday is dedicated to the 875 Trophy, featuring several interesting side events. You can also connect with a host of Belgian and international stars from the past.
TROFEE 875 EVO
We're licking our fingers and thumbs as we go through the entry list. 21 teams of three riders each have registered. Picking a favorite? It's impossible. We've picked out a few notable names. Factory Team JDR is fielding Cedric Melotte and Jonathan Banken. B&I Vintage is fielding Swiss champion Nick Triest, Wim Couwberghs, and Tom De Belder. All the way from Denmark is the Caprani family team, led by Mikkel. The British team is going all out with JT Utilities. Neville Bradshaw and multiple European champion Brad Anderson (who won the series last year) are to be feared. What about TRB Racing with Matteo Puffet, by far the best amateur rider at the moment. He's flanked by Jean Marc Balbeur and Ken de Dijcker. Our insider tip? Belgium Twinair with Steve Ramon, Nicolas Vennekens, and Arnaud Demeester. Put your money on this team.
TROFEE 875 CLASSIC
Slightly fewer high-profile names, but still 16 teams. We recommend Geboers Suzuki, with Scott Geboers alongside Laurent Lacasse and Didier Stommen. Marvel at these historic motocross bikes.
The day's program also includes side events for Support Evo and Support Classic. Both series are full, with 48 riders behind the gates each.
THE MEN OF STEEL
For years, AMC Orp has managed to get the top performers of yesteryear to their event. This year is no different. On the invite list, I see Jean-Jacques Bruno, Werner Dewit, Harry Everts, Sylvain Geboers, Pierre Karsmakers, Jean-Claude Lacquaye, Jacky Martens, André Massant, Jaak Van Velthoven, Ivan Van Den Broeck, André Vromans, and Ronny Wuestenraedt. And many more. I'm already going, are you too?
