WA motocross weekend in Lommel! The Belgian sandbox delivered a spectacle of the highest order. Lucas Coenen made history in front of his home crowd by taking his first MXGP victory. His brother Sacha Coenen also reached the podium in the MX2 class, while Nicolo Alvisi was crowned EMX125 champion. And then there was Jeffrey Herlings' comeback, Simon Längenfelder's battle to keep his red plate, and an impressive comeback by Andrea Adamo.

Lucas Coenen shines in home GP Lommel

For Lucas Coenen It was a weekend to remember. In the first heat he fought a tough battle with Romain Febvre, but had to settle for P2. The second moto was all his.

We had a good battle in the first moto. Romain rode really well, but I was still able to close the gap. In the second moto, I went all out. It's the best win I've ever had.

With his victory, Coenen has definitely put himself on the map as a future title contender in the MXGP class.

Also for Sacha Coenen it was a successful weekend, although it had a difficult start.

"I made a lot of mistakes in the first moto. The second was much better, with good speed and good starts. I'm already looking forward to the next races."

The young Belgian eventually finished third in the day's classification MX2 in Lommel.

Herlings back in action

The five-time world champion Jeffrey Herlings made his comeback after an injury. Although his shoulder was still bothering him, he showed he hasn't lost his speed.

"The injury kept me out for four weeks. Today, I could have ridden a 3-3 in terms of speed. My shoulder wouldn't allow it. Still, I'm happy with my riding. On to Sweden."

Adamo's impressive comeback

Andrea Adamo, the reigning MX2 world champion, had to start from the back of the grid in the second moto after an incident. He fought back impressively and got into the points.

"It's a shame to have to start last in the second moto in Lommel. But I think I did well to bounce back."

Simon Längenfelder retains Red Plate despite difficult day

Simon Langenfelder had a tough time in the Belgian sandbox, but managed to limit the damage.

"I really had to push hard in that second moto to hold on to fourth place. We learned the most from a bad weekend. We're looking forward to Sweden."

The German retains the lead for the time being MX2 standings.
