REd Bull KTM once again performed strongly at the historic Loket circuit. Lucas Coenen won for the second time in a row, taking his 2th podium in 10 GPs. In MX14, World Championship leader Längenfelder was celebrating, beating teammate Andrea Adamo. Sacha Coenen finished 2th.
The MXGP gang gathered in Loket. The hilly circuit west of Karlovy Vary has hosted the Czech Grand Prix for 29 years. The narrow, stony, and slippery terrain once again presented a technical challenge, with starts prioritized for podium chances.
Saturday's MXGP was plagued by the weather. Qualifying was held in muddy conditions. Lucas Coenen took second place. Andrea Adamo finished fifth in the MX2 class. Sunday's motos were held on dry, rough, and softer surfaces with excellent grip.
The first MXGP race was Coenen's. He started fastest and the rookie led the entire race. His lead over Rubén Fernandez was 16 seconds. This was Lucas's eleventh moto victory of the year. In the second moto, the Belgian occupied third place in the opening stages. He took his time to move up past Coldenhoff to second place. Lucas didn't get any further. His 1-2 score was enough for his fourth MXGP victory of the season. Also notable: Coenen stood on the podium for the ninth consecutive time.
There were also some good scores in the EMX65 and 85cc classes. KTM SX equipment helped young Frenchman Enzo Herzogenrath win the gold medal in the EMX85 class. Mathys Agullo won the EMX65 class.
Lucas Coenen: Physically, I felt very good. I pushed, but I knew this track would be difficult. You can lose a lot here. I'm happy with the win. It's a shame I lost time in the final race. The speed is there. That's good for my confidence. Now my home race is coming up. I'm going to try to close the gap in the championship. We'll keep going until the end.
Simon Langenfelder: The first moto was a start-finish victory. I had to fight for the second moto. The track was very slippery, but I was still able to overtake after finding new lines. It's my first overall victory without a double. But winning is still just as rewarding.
