NAfter a few weeks of vacation, the VLM caravan settled at the MX Team Sam Rent for a new round of the VLM championship. Although Brent Aerden and Cedric Grobben each won a round and became 2nd once, Grobben's victory in the resumption was decisive for the final victory.

Glenn Bielen took the holeshot ahead of championship leader Cedric Grobben, Kenny Janssens, Brent Aerden and Arno Van Mieghem. Brent Aerden quickly passed Janssens and the three in front did not give each other an inch.

Bielen had to deal with problems with his roll-off system due to a broken string. Grobben could not mount an attack on this technically demanding circuit, which became increasingly difficult due to the rain. A rare mistake by Grobben was mercilessly punished by Aerden. When Brent chased Bielen, he crashed. Aerden had a six-second lead over Grobben by then. Bielen had to tolerate teammate Nolan Cordens ahead of him in the final phase.

Arno Van Mieghem had his hands full with Enzo Aerden, but finished in a fine fifth place. In the 250cc class, Kevin Schellens was beaten by competitor Dieter Vromans, who lost time in a crash. Yirre Saenen and Boyd Van Endert took advantage and finished second and third, ahead of Vromans.

Among the B-riders, Chiel Vanhaeren rode in the lead for a long time, with Jamie Haanen in his wake. However, Haanen kept attacking until Vanhaeren had to give in. Raf Belmans came in third.

Grobben took the lead again, ahead of Enzo Aerden – indeed, the brother of series winner Brent. Kenny Janssens, Kevin Schellens and Nolan Cordens were close behind, followed by Brent Aerden and Glenn Bielen.

Grobben immediately created a gap. Enzo Aerden continued to ride strongly, but was soon joined by Cordens, Bielen and brother Brent. He first had to pass the Betemo duo and did so with bravado. When Enzo's bobbin slowly ran out of steam, he let his brother pass. Brent Aerden then clocked lap times faster than Grobben, but stragglers decided otherwise. Aerden had to settle for second place.

Cordens and Bielen managed to pass Enzo Aerden. In the 250cc, Kevin Schellens seemed to be on his way to victory for a long time after a rocket start, but Yirre Saenen came from far back and passed Schellens towards the final victory. Boyd Van Endert also rode a strong race. Dieter Vromans crashed and had to give up - a big disappointment for his ambitions.

In the B-class Jamie Haanen was the strongest from the start. Raf Belmans and Alexander Verbeeck fought each other for the places of honour.

Next week the VLM caravan will travel to the Duinberg in Retie.
