Simon Längenfelder will count Matterley Basin among his favourite tracks, especially after today. The Red Bull KTM pilot won both heats after dominating yesterday's qualifying race. A regular Liam Everts (6-2) beat compatriot Sacha Coenen (2-6) in the battle for second podium spot thanks to a better 2nd heat.

IIn the first MX2 race at Matterley Basin Andrea Adamo took the holeshot ahead of Sacha Coenen and Oriol Oliver (Gabriel SS24 KTM). Oliver was in a hurry though and quickly took the lead from Adamo on the opening lap. Adamo made an early mistake and dropped back to 10th place — a costly blip in the championship battle.

Langenfelder, back in form in England where he booked his first World Championship victory, started off quietly but did find his rhythm. In the 5th lap he overtook Braceras for P3 and then went after Farres. In the meantime race leader Oliver crashed, allowing Langenfelder to move up. The German rode unchallenged to victory ahead of Coenen and Oliver. British Triumph has two riders in the top-5 with a 4th and 5th place for McLellan and Farres.

The latter was just a fraction faster than Liam Everts. World champion De Wolf, who started 6th, had to settle for 7th place.

Conditions were treacherous in the second MX2 race at Matterley Basin, but that didn't stop Simon Langenfelder not wanting to be the first to cross the holeshot line. Liam Evert was in good shape, as were Thibault Benistant and Oriol Oliver. However, the surprising Spaniard crashed in the opening lap and had to chase.

Andrew Adam began a strong overtaking race. On lap four he passed Sacha Coenen for fifth place and went hunting for Farres. Cas Valk en Karlis Reisulis also came into the picture briefly, but would eventually finish 16th and outside the points respectively.

World Championship leader Längenfelder remained faultless and after the British GP has a 52-point lead over pursuer Adamo. For Kay De Wolf, only 10th today, it will be important to regroup and ride a strong 2nd half of the season. At the moment De Wolf is 70 points behind Längenfelder, Liam Everts and Sacha Coenen are 4th and 5th in the intermediate standings.
