ALast Sunday the sidecars were behind the starting gate in Eersel for their fifth race of the season. In the sidecar inters class Frank Mulders and Marc van Deutekom showed that their form is growing. After a third place in the first round they won the second round, which also gave them the day's victory.
Based on the second manche, Sam Veldman and Kaj van den Berg had to settle for second place. Winston Derksen and Nick Maas finished second twice and were allowed to go to the podium as third. With a fourth and sixth place in the manches, Joppe and Wessel Susebeek became fourth in the daily classification. The top five was completed by Bart Vandenbulck (Belgium) and Sam Bens.
In the national sidecar class Joris Mulders and Rion Meulebroek were supreme with two heat victories. Second place went to Van Hasselt (Bel)/Luimes with a second and fourth place. Bart van der Lee and Wouter Direks were also allowed to go to the podium with a fifth and second place.
The next competition for the sidecars will be on June 8 in Lommel, Belgium.
First heat
Veldman/van den Berg were the fastest ahead of Derksen/Maas, Brusselers/van Houts, Vandenbulck/Bens and van Werven/Buitenhuis. Mulders/van Deutekom came from tenth place and were already fourth after the first lap. In lap two they also passed Brusselers/van Houts and joined the leaders. Halfway through the gap to the rest was already more than 20 seconds. The Susebeek brothers passed Brusselers/van Houts and rode to the finish in fourth place. Mulders/van Deutekom lost contact and became third. Veldman/van den Berg held on and won the heat ahead of Derksen/Maas.
Second heat
Brusselers/van Houts took the holeshot ahead of Derksen/Maas, Mulders/van Deutekom, Vandenbulck/Bens and Veldman/van den Berg. The lead changed quickly, as Mulders/van Deutekom took over and stayed ahead. Veldman/van den Berg moved up to third place. Van Werven/Buitenhuis climbed up to fourth place and later also overtook Brusselers/van Houts. At the front, Mulders/van Deutekom kept up the pace and did not relinquish the lead. Derksen/Maas came in second, Veldman/van den Berg third. Van Werven/Buitenhuis were able to close the gap a bit, but not enough. Van den Heuij/van den Heuij finished fifth.
