HOnda HRC rider Tim Gajser recently underwent successful surgery on his right shoulder, which he injured in a crash during the Swiss Grand Prix on Monday, April 21.

The incident at the Frauenfeld circuit initially did not seem too serious, but after Gajser tried physiotherapy to improve his shoulder, it was decided that surgery was the best option.

Unfortunately, this means that Gajser's title dreams for this season are now over. However, the Slovenian had a promising start to the season, with six podiums in the first rounds, three of which were victories. At one point, he even had a lead of almost 50 points.

Instead, Gajser will now spend several weeks on the sidelines as his body recovers from this setback. He is working with his medical team to ensure that everything goes correctly so that when he does return, it won’t take him long to get back to his old level.

Tim Gajser commented: "I am extremely disappointed to have had to undergo surgery, which will practically ruin my chances of winning the title this year. There is no set recovery plan for this injury, but I will miss several rounds and even if I return, it will take some time to get back to my previous level. My focus now is to do everything I need to do to get fit and healthy again, and we will take it from there. I felt so good this season, and I think that was evident from my results and how comfortably I was leading the championship. But this is motocross, and unfortunately anything can happen at any time. A big thank you to everyone at Honda HRC for their work, and to all my fans around the world who support me. I hope to see you at the races later this year."
