Ook today tough conditions in Portugal and the EMX125 riders will have known that. French mud king Mano Faure won race two and took his third overall win of the season. Teammate Jarne Bervoets came 6th and also finished sixth in the final standings.
Nicolò Alvisi and Mano Faure battled for the holeshot. The Yamaha Frenchman took the lead early and would not relinquish it! Championship leader Áron Katona crashed at the start on a wet and heavy circuit. Then Alvisi, who was in second place, made a mistake.
Douwe Van Mechgelen had an excellent start and was initially 4th. The Fantic rider could not profit enough from that good start and would eventually finish 8th. For Katona it literally remained a struggle. He got into trouble again and would finish without points as 21st.
Man in form Cole McCullough was able to make up a few places and became 2nd, although at a considerable distance from Faure. Despite a difficult second run, Nicolò Alvisi was able to secure his second place in the final standings. The Italian KTM rider had to settle for 7th place.
The day's victory went to Mano Faure, he finished ahead of McCullough and Kubulins. Bellei came fourth, Mantovani fifth, Bervoets finished a neat sixth.
In the final standings Alvisi came second, Bellei third. Kubulins and Mantovani completed the top five.
Áron Katona remains the leader in the championship, although his lead has shrunk from 39 to 23 points over Bellei and Alvis. Dani Heitink, only 12th in Portugal, had a difficult weekend but remains the best lowlander in 7th place. Jarne Bervoets, Dean Gregoire, Douwe Van Mechgelen and Ian Ampoorter are 11th, 15th, 16th and 19th respectively.
