ALast Saturday the MX2 youth started their fifth race in Horst. On the De Reulsberg circuit it was Jenairo Beerens who recovered from his failure in Overloon. With two heat wins Beerens took the full 120 points and the day's victory.
Second place went to Liam Peeters with a fifth and third place in the heats. He stayed ahead of Vigo Dral based on the second heat. The battle for fourth place was also decided based on the second heat. With a seventh and fourth place it was the Belgian Seppe De Rooze who stayed ahead of Randy Verheije.
First heat
It was Beerens who had the best start ahead of Bryan van Vulpen, Dral, Tim van Berlo and Plaas. After three laps, Plaas had climbed to second place, five seconds behind Beerens. Van Berlo saw Verheije pass him one lap later and two laps later he lost his top five position to Peeters. Van Vulpen lost a position per lap and ended up in sixth place halfway through the heat. This made the order: Beerens, Plaas, Dral, Verheije and Peeters.
Beerens had a nice lead on Plaas and Plaas in turn was clear of Dral, Verheije and Peeters. Beerens rode further and further away from Plaas and won the heat with a 28 second lead. Plaas was able to finish the heat relatively calmly in second place. Behind them, Dral and Verheije did not stay far apart during the heat. Dral managed to stay ahead of Verheije and came third. Peeters saw the two in front of him gradually pull away. His fifth place was not really in danger anymore. The gap to Van Vulpen was always around five seconds or just a little bigger during the second part of the heat.
Second heat
It was again Beerens with the best start ahead of Dral, De Rooze, Van Vulpen and Sem Baert. At the first pass it was Verheije who came through in fifth place. However, he got into trouble and it was Liam Peeters who now came to fifth place. Peeters quickly advanced and two laps later he was in second place. In his wheel Raphael Hellmuth had come forward. Beerens did not notice much of the battle behind him and now had a lead of 15 seconds. He would only extend this lead and won the manche again.
Three laps before the flag fell, Hellmuth passed Peeters and came in second. Peeters perhaps finished the heat a bit too calmly in third place. Behind him, De Rooze came back to within a few seconds to finish fourth. Dral followed eight seconds behind.
