WWhat did the MX2 riders have to say about their Swiss Grand Prix? We've compiled some of the reactions!
Simon Langenfelder – Red Bull KTM, GP winner (1-1)
“My first overall win of the year! I am very happy with that. I felt good on this circuit and with the deep ruts. I started well twice and could easily drive away from the competition from that position. The first GP win of the season now gives me the necessary confidence for the next races.”
Liam Evert – Nestan Husqvarna Factory Racing, 2nd overall (3-3):
“A strong weekend after the frustrating GP last week, when I felt I could have done better. So I’m happy with how things went here in Frauenfeld. In the first moto I finished behind Kay, and in the second I was behind Andrea. But I just focused on staying calm, riding my own lines and keeping the pressure on. Three top-3 finishes this weekend feels great. I hope I can continue this trend in Agueda.”
Kay the Wolf – Nestan Husqvarna Factory Racing, 3nd overall (2-4):
“This was clearly a weekend of ups and downs. The win in the qualifying race on Saturday was a big boost. It was my first Saturday win of the season and I felt really good. In the second moto my pace was good and I was able to finish second, although lapped riders made for dangerous situations in the final phase. The second moto was tougher. I had problems with my clutch, which made it a real challenge from the start. But in the end I was able to score a lot of points. I am already focused on coming back stronger in Portugal.”
Andrew Adam – Red Bull KTM, fourth overall (5-2):
“A decent weekend, but nothing special. In the first moto I definitely had the speed and the feeling was good, but I made a mistake in the first three or four laps. That undermined my result because the good start changed from 3-4 to P9. After that it was not easy to overtake riders again, but I still managed a few times. In the end I still finished fifth, but there was potential for more. The feeling in the second moto was a bit different. I was certainly not the best, but I still managed to finish 2e to come in. Strong. I narrowly missed the podium, now we have to work on those mistakes in the opening phase. Of course, not every weekend goes as you would like, but we have to try to get a lot of points when things don't go so smoothly. Now a week off and then we go to Portugal.”
Camden McLellan – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing, 5de algemeen (4-7)
“It was a good weekend here in Switzerland. It was a really technical track, but I felt great on the bike and was very comfortable. My speed was good, and in the first moto I was very close to a top-three finish. In the second moto, however, I didn’t have a strong first lap, so I had a lot of work to do to come back. In the end I finished seventh, which was good for fifth overall – so that’s not bad at all. It was another positive weekend for me and the team, and I’m looking forward to Portugal in two weeks.”
Guillem Farres – Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing, 6de algemeen (4-7)
"That was my first race back, and I'm really happy to be back with the team. The goal this weekend was to get a result to build on, and I think we did that. I was eleventh in the qualifying race, and today in the first moto I was seventh. In the second moto I was sixth for a while, but eventually finished eighth, which was good for sixth overall. It was a solid weekend here in Switzerland with a lot of positives, and the goal is to be even stronger in Portugal."
Thibault Benistant – Monster Energy Yamaha, 7th overall (11-5): “It wasn’t an easy weekend. I had a good start in the first moto, but I crashed on the first lap. Later in the race I crashed again, and after that it took me a while to find my rhythm. My speed was good, it was the crashes that ruined it. The second moto went much better. I had another good start and passed riders, but I was riding a bit cramped. Now we focus on Portugal in two weeks.”
Cas Valk – Van Venrooy Racing KTM, 9th overall (8-12)
"It certainly wasn't an easy weekend for me and certainly not my best in terms of riding. On the other hand, a top ten in the final standings. So that's positive. On to the next race!"
Karlis Reisulis – Monster Energy Yamaha, 10th overall (12-9):
"I'm not so happy with my day today. I need to work on a few things, because my speed is good at the beginning of the motos, but less at the end, even though I feel good on the bike. We have a weekend off now, and then we go to Portugal."
Sacha Coenen – Red Bull KTM, 11de general (6-16):
“On Saturday I didn’t feel so good on this track, but on Monday morning I had a good warm-up. In the first moto I had a good start and led the race for a while. At the same time I tried to control my race and just do my best. In the second moto I struggled with a locked front wheel at the start, which made me lose a lot of places. I managed to move up to ninth place, but then I accidentally put the bike in neutral, which made me lose a lot of places again. This was not a good weekend.”
Rick Elzinga – Monster Energy Yamaha, 12th overall (13-10):
“I’m happy I could ride today because on Saturday I broke my little finger and dislocated my knuckle joint during free practice. For today I taped my little finger and ring finger together, and that helped. It was painful to ride, but the worst thing was that my hand cramped. It was difficult to ride, but I still managed to score points with a 13th and 10th place. Now I need to take some time to recover, but hopefully I can ride normally again in Portugal.”
