DThe tension was high in the run-up to the main event! During the reconnaissance lap one thing was immediately noticeable: Tom Vialle was the only one who had the guts to take the first part of the whoops full throttle. The rest kept their cards close to their chest and played it safe, calmly rolling over them in the reconnaissance lap.
Once the gate dropped, it was Nate Thrasher who was quickest away and took the holeshot. But he didn't get to enjoy it for long, as Seth Hammaker quickly took over the lead once the green flag was waved.
For Chance Hymas the evening was dramatic. He crashed hard at the end of the long rhythm section. Although he continued for a while, he soon had to abandon the fight and left the circuit together with his mechanic via the tunnel.
Up front, Thrasher stayed on Hammaker’s trail, but in the corner after the standard Supercross triple, he crashed. The mistake not only cost him time, but also his podium finish—he dropped to P4. RJ Hampshire took full advantage, moving up to second, a position he was poised to take anyway.
What followed was a classic game of cat and mouse between Hammaker and Hampshire, with the latter applying pressure but never really getting into a position to make a serious attempt at overtaking. Despite a fair few stragglers on the course, Hammaker kept his cool and secured the win.
With the win, the Pennsylvania rider becomes the first to win two 250SX East class victories this season and takes the championship lead. Hampshire finished second, with Vialle completing the podium.
