OOn 5 and 6 July, the Junior Motocross World Championship will take place in Romagné (France) for youngsters in the 125cc, 85cc and 65cc classes. Each country may enter a maximum of 5 riders in each class. The closing date for entries is 30 days before the competition (beginning of June). In order to participate in the Junior MX World Championship, the BMB has decided to adjust the selection criteria for this year.
In order to be selected, riders must have the correct permits (BMB Europe Open and World Junior Championship license) and hold a Belgian passport.
For the classes 65cc and 85cc the riders must finish in the top 20 of the final standings of the qualifying rounds for the European Championship EMX65/85cc in the Central Europe zone (NL/DK/D). If more than 5 riders finish in this top 20, the 5 best-placed riders will be selected for the World Championship. If fewer riders finish in the top 20, fewer riders will be sent to the World Championship.
In class 125cc the riders must be in the top 20 of the intermediate standings of the European Championship EMX125cc after the race in Teutschenthal (D) on June 1st. If there are more than 5 riders in this top 20, the 5 best ranked riders will be selected for the World Championship. If there are fewer riders in the top 20, fewer riders will be sent to the World Championship.
Riders who meet these selection criteria will be contacted by the BMB in due time to ask about their interest in participating in the Junior MX World Championship. If interested and selected, the Junior World Championship license can be arranged at that time.
Riders who are not interested in participating, or are unable to participate (e.g. injury) will only be replaced by another rider, provided that the latter also meets the selection criteria (is in the top 20).
After registration of all selected riders by the BMB with the FIM, in principle no more replacements are possible. For example, if 3 riders in a certain class could qualify for selection and there is 1 cancellation, then only 2 BMB riders will be able to participate. If there were 5 selected riders for a certain class and there is 1 cancellation, then this rider can in principle still be replaced, as long as this rider also meets the selection criteria (top 20).
If no 5 riders can qualify for a class according to the selection conditions described above, the selection committee may, after thorough evaluation, decide to exceptionally deviate from these conditions.
Should there be any changes in the EMX65/85cc or EMX125cc calendar, the selection committee will take these into account and the date of the decision may be adjusted, taking into account the deadline for registration for the Junior World Championship.
