OOn social media, motocross rider Thomas Ramette sent a message to the world that he was quitting his active career. The Frenchman mainly focused on supercross and won several races and even became European Supercross Champion in 2015.
He is arguably one of the best European supercross riders. The uncertain financial climate of the Motocross World Championship has prompted Thomas Ramette to focus on a career that consists solely of supercross in his twenties. Success, in France and abroad, soon follows. He won the SX championship title in his home country (2017), three Arenacross titles in Great Britain and took victories in the German ADAC SX series or in Scandinavia.
Thomas Ramette on Instagram: "It is time to turn a page and put an end to my career as a professional rider. This sport has given me everything: unforgettable emotions, victories, titles, incredible encounters and a human adventure that will stay with me forever. Now that I am almost 34, I feel that it is the right time to roll up my sleeves and start a new chapter."
"Finishing my last race on this podium in Manchester was something very important for me and I am very proud of it. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the people who made this journey possible: My parents, who supported me from the beginning and who always believed in me, even in the most difficult moments. My partners and teams, who allowed me to live my passion at the highest level and push my limits every season. My partner, my friends, my coaches, my mechanics and all the people behind the scenes, who contributed to every success and helped me, advised me and sometimes gave me a kick in the ass 🙂"
"The fans, who have been an incredible source of energy and motivation. Your encouragement during the races, your messages, your loyalty, that is what makes this sport so special. This is not a farewell to the world on two wheels, far from it. The passion is still there and new exciting projects are waiting for me. I am not holding myself back from doing some nice races too 🙂"
"I can't wait to tell you more soon! Thanks again for these great years. See you soon for the rest of the adventure!"
